Personality: Edna is a very short and short tempered person, extremely pron to over reacting, especially when someone makes comments about her height. If anyone calls her short, she flips out completely and sometimes even resort to physical violence depending on the person(her relationship with them). She can, on the other hand, be very mature at times. When she is in a situation where it is very unappropriated to act childish, she can recognize that and act accordingly. Though, despite her military stature she doesn't take orders well and usually does what she thinks is right or needs to be done despite what people tell her. If her State alchemist title is riding on something, though, she will do it because she knows he needs the certification. Edna has a very good sense of justice derived from her own life experiences and her encounters with the gate.

Having gone through a lot as a child she knows how to deal with almost any problem she may face. Using her wit, strength, speed and alchemy she can come out on top in almost any battle and uses these attributes to protect the people she cares about, such as Al and Winry. Though it horrifies her to kill, if needed, she will.

History:At a young age, around two or three, Edna's father left her, her younger brother, Alphonse, and quite sick mother, promising to eventually return. But he didn't. Edna's father, Hohenheim had left all his alchemy books at the house when he left and Edna and Alphonse had gotten into them. While reading through them they came across many interesting things and became quite skill at alchemy for people their age. By the time Edna was ten, her mother sickness had make her increasingly weak and one day she died. Having grown up with no father, the two children developed a very close relationship with their mother and once she died, were convinced they couldn't live without her.

One of the things the siblings had come across while reading through the alchemy books was the ability to bring a human back from the dead. Both them agreed on the plan, that they would find a teacher and get good enough to preform the transmutation to bring back their mother. On a particularity rainy day, they found their teacher after an unfortunate mishap at the river barricades. She was a very tough woman and decided that before she fully took them on as apprentices they needed to spend one month on a secluded island, fending for themselves. They passed her first test and began to learn real alchemy.

In a few months they returned home with the knowledge they needed, or thought they needed to bring back their loved one. Unfortunately the transmutation failed. Alphonse lost his body inside the gate and Edna lost a leg. The leg that Edna gave up to the gate was a price, it allowed her to see “the truth”, seeing this made her able to transmute without a circle, though he doesn't know this yet. In a desperate attempt to save her brother, Edna gave her arm to the gate and managed to attach Al's soul to a large suit of armor. When Al regained consciousness she carried Edna to the home of a very good friend, Winry Rockbell.

Winry and her grandmother made Edna an auto-mail arm and leg in place of the ones he had lost in the gate. Edna then decided that he was going to because a state alchemist, knowing that this would get her funding from the government for research that she would do. This research would be on the Philosopher's Stone, this stone would give him the power to return Al's body to the way it was, which became Edna's goal.

After many trails on the way, Edna made it to Central City with her brother and became the youngest State Alchemist ever. After many fights with the homuncli and Al becoming the Stone, it drew to a close with the final battle. Envy ended up killing Edna, but Alphonse acted quickly using the power of the Stone he pulled Edna's soul from the gate and reattached it to her body. By doing this Al used all the power of the Stone a disappeared. In one final act of desperation, Edna transmuted herself, giving his life, to save Al. But instead of dieing like she would have thought, Edna ends up in the 1900's of our world, with Al alive in the other world.

Two years later a when Edna is living with Alfonse Hendric war begins in Germany. Edna sneaks into a facility where they are working on getting to "Shambala" which in actual fact is Amestris. Suits of armor are sent over from Germany to Amestris using a very odd type of alchemy. The armor arrives in Lior at the same time Al happens to be there, and start wreaking havoc. Using a new found ability Al splits his soul and puts part of it in a suit of armor to help him fight. When the suits return to Germany they fall on top of Edna in the facility and Al's soul spots her. They escape from the facility and sit on the river banks talking, by the time Al's soul has left the armor he has an idea of how to bring Edna back to Amestris.

Wrath brings Al down to the ruins of Central. There he asks Alphonse to transmute him and Gluttony, who will soon appear to open "the Gate". He does as he is told and at the same time in Germany another Gate is being opened in the same facility Edna had broken into ealier. She returns there to find this sight. She is knocked out and place inside a jet by Alfonse to return to her own world.

The plan goes awry when a plethora of other ships are sent to Amestris as well to destroy it. Edna mets with Alphonse, Roy Mustang and Winry again. She is fitted with new auto-mail that Winry has been carrying around and then is off to battle. Edna and Alphonse jump onto the ship of the woman behind this plan and with the help on Roy, defeat her. Claiming she has to return to Germany to close the gate on that side, Edna guides the ship back through the gate and supposedly leaves everyone behind, again.

Edna lands to find that Alfonse Hendric has been shot and killed and also that the woman planning all this is still alive. She is quickly shot and killed herself. It is at that time a suit of armor begins to speak in Al's voice. At first Edna is sure that Al has just transmuted his soul again, but when the helmet pops of and Al sticks his head out she is proven wrong. This is where she would be taken from.

Special Abilities: Edna, like her brother and father before her, has the ability to use alchemy. Alchemy is the science of changing substances from one form to another. The alchemist has to understand the chemical make-up of the substance, be able to deconstruction it then reconstruct it. This is done by pulling energy from the gate and using that energy to move around the particles in the substance.

Worst Nightmare: The sky is dark, thunder rumbles, lightning cracks, Edna is running. Running. Running. Running. At the moment that was all this young girl could think of. Though it was dark and she was soaked through to the bone, she didn't stop. She couldn't. Her pursuers were close behind her and stopping would evidently mean injury, or possibly death. The glowing purple eyes of Envy, the homonuli, appear in front of her shinning through the darkness. She turns and there's another set of eyes, but these ones hardly shine. They're brown. Alphonse's. Lightning strikes beside Alphonse, his face is flooded with light. His face is covered with blood from a wound across his face, a wound Edna inflicted. Al steps forward claps his hands, preparing for a transmutation as Edna usually did, he places a hand on her head.

“Good bye, sister.”

Then she woke up.
